Projects

organics for palestine final - NL small (1).jpg

Hired by Nana Bio BV, I'm collaborating with Beyond Boundary to investigate how the principles of the organic movement—Health, Ecology, Fairness, and Care (IFOAM)—relate to the reality of genocide and ecocide in Palestine. We are writing an article based on this research, which we intend to publish.

In collaboration with Katinka Feijs, Beyond Boundary, and NaNa Bio, I translated these insights into an infographic that aims to raise awareness and stimulate dialogue about the intertwining of justice, ecology, and solidarity within the organic sector. This infographic is published in August and other products will be distributed in various ways, including at the February 2026 Biofach.

Establishment of BioJong

The future of the organic sector is not only defined by its agricultural model without pesticides and fertilizers, but also by the people who shape it. The energy, vision, and courage of young people are indispensable if the organic sector wants to work towards a just and resilient organic food chain. That's why, together with Christianne de Kort, I founded BioJong: a network that connects young people, amplifies their voices, and demonstrates that there is room for innovation in every link of the organic food chain. Coloring Connections:
Researching Gender, Intersectionality, and Health in the Climate Crisis

Published on December 2, 2024.

In "Coloring Connections: Researching Gender, Intersectionality, and Health in the Climate Crisis," I collaborated on Chapter 6: Public Policy, Intersectionality, and Healthy Cities, with Petra Verdonk, Natalia Tumas, and Irene van Valkengoed. In this chapter, we explored how urban and public policy can be shaped more healthily, inclusively, and resiliently by incorporating gender, inequality, and power structures into policy analyses. I also developed the training "Critical Reflection on Frameworks of Reference in Relation to Health, Climate Justice, and Indigenous Knowledge," which challenges health researchers to critically question their frames of reference and create space for knowledge and perspectives that often remain marginalized.

Intersectionality in long-term healthcare
Published on July 1, 2024.

For the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, I coordinated a project on intersectionality in long-term healthcare on behalf of ECHO, the Expertise Center for Diversity Policy.

In this project, we conducted a literature review on intersectionality-based policy analysis in healthcare and social work, including an accessible summary of the key insights. We also identified best practices and practical tools to help policymakers better integrate diversity and intersectionality into their work.

The findings were discussed and explored in reflection sessions with both experts with lived experience and policy officers from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. The result is a final report that provides direction for more inclusive policy development in long-term care.

Students-4-Students Campaign

From 2017 to 2022, I coordinated the national Students-4-Students (S4S) campaign. This included 27 projects at universities of applied sciences and research universities throughout the Netherlands. The campaign's goal was to promote equal opportunities in higher professional education (HBO) and research universities (WO) by creating inclusive learning environments, increasing academic success, and fostering a stronger sense of belonging in students. I developed and delivered training courses, provided substantive guidance to project leaders on diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities, and analyzed the project results using a Theory of Change model. The goal of this campaign was to innovate and embed diversity and inclusion in higher education.
